Following the announcement of the premiere of Shoojit Government’s Gulabo Sitabo starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, Amazon Prime Video has announced that six other Indian films will be released online. Anu Menon’s Shakuntala Devi with Vidya Balan in the lead role, Ponmagal Vandaal, a legal drama with astrologer, five Indian languages like Keerthi Suresh’s Penguin (Tamil, Telugu), Jayasurya’s Sufi Sujatha, Low (Kannada) and French Biryani (Kannada). It is reported that the first screening of these films can be enjoyed exclusively for the next three months on Amazon Prime Video in 200 countries around the world.
Amazon Prime Video India, Director and Head Content Vijay Subramanian said, “Prime Video believes in understanding what customers want and act accordingly.” It is from this belief that the company’s latest offering began. Over the past two years, Prime Video has become a major hub for customers to watch new releases within weeks of the release of films in multiple languages. Now, the company has gone one step further and is now showing seven eagerly awaited Indian films for the first time exclusively on Prime Video. This will bring home the film experience or rather home cinema.
